CBT is a blend of Cognitive Therapy and Behavioural Therapy. Cognitive means thought and Behaviour as it implies, is a form of therapy that modifies thought patterns to help change behaviour and mood.
It’s based on the idea that negative actions or feelings are the results of malfunctioning beliefs or thoughts. CBT techniques mainly focus on improving: your mood, beliefs about yourself and the world and overall outlook on life.
The client and the therapist will work to identify specific negative thought patterns and behavioural responses observed in challenging situations.
